Comprehensive Plan Open House

On Tuesday, January 30th, the draft Comprehensive Development Guide, 2024 for Hardin County will be unveiled for public comment and review!

Please join us from 4:30 - 6:30pm on the third floor of the Hardin County Government Center at 150 North Provident Way in Elizabethtown to view elements of the plan, and discuss the draft with staff.

Steering Committee #5

The fifth Steering Committee meeting was held on June 28, 2023 at the Hardin County Government Center. There were approximately 15 committee members and four staff members in attendance. The committee members were provided the draft plan document prior to the meeting for review. The discussion of the meeting was focused on reviewing final future land use map, planning areas map, the development criteria for the four Glendale planning areas, and action steps for each goal in the plan.

The fourth Steering Committee meeting was held on January 25, 2023 at the County Government Building. In addition to four staff members, there were about 18 committee members in attendance. The meeting included a brief overview of the process and an overview of the public engagement to date, which included a public open house in September to kick off the project, two public open house “road shows” that were held in December in Rineyville and Cecilia, a public online, stakeholder workshops, and various public events led by Staff with civic and non-profit groups throughout the county.

On March 1, 2023 from 4:00-6:00 pm, Hardin County hosted a public workshop at the Old East Hardin Middle School at 129 College Street, Glendale, KY 42740. This open house provided another opportunity for the public to see the progress for the comprehensive plan update so far, to provide input on what makes Hardin County a great place to live, and what changes could make it an even better place to live in the future. The input and feedback that was gathered at this workshop will help realign the vision and goals of Hardin County’s current Comprehensive Development Guide. On March 29, 2023 from 4:30-6:00 pm, Hardin County will host a public workshop at the Woodland Elementary School at 6000 S Woodland Dr, Radcliff, KY 40160. This open house will provide another opportunity for the public to see the progress for the comprehensive plan update so far, to provide input on what makes Hardin County a great place to live, and what changes could make it an even better place to live in the future. The input and feedback that will be gathered at this workshop will help realign the vision and goals of Hardin County’s current Comprehensive Development Guide.

Engagement Update

Between September, 2022 and January, 2023, multiple public engagement events were held throughout the county to provide opportunities for community members to provide input on what makes Hardin County a great place to live, and what could make it an even better place to live in the future? Events were held in Elizabethtown, Cecilia, and Rineyville, and a survey was conducted as well. There have been four steering committee meetings held during this time, as well as stakeholder meetings that included members of the farm bureau and members of the real estate and development communities.

community. This plan will use your input to define the future of Hardin County for residents, businesses, and
visitors alike.

 

The first open house will be held Monday, December 12 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at Rineyville Elementary.

PUBLIC MEETING #2

There will be two opportunities to provide feedback for the Hardin County Comprehensive Plan Phase 1! Each open house will display the same information, so attendees do not need to attend both to provide feedback.

 

The first open house will be held Monday, December 12 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at Rineyville Elementary. The second open house will be held Wednesday, December 14 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at Cecilia Valley Elementary.

PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT EVENTS

Community engagement is a cornerstone for comprehensive planning. Working alongside and gathering feedback from community leaders, stakeholders, businesses owners, and residents  allow a plan to truly represent the vision of the community. The following engagement summaries highlight the key points we heard during our meetings with the public, steering committee, focus groups, and other community-led efforts. These will be updated as they are completed!
